How to view Rich Text Format documents

A friend has sent me a shedload of documents all in Rich Text Format (rtf). How do I get to read them , I am running SuSE 9.2 pro and have OO installed. All my attempts so far have just got me some odd headings and clipart, not the complete document.

OO should read them fine. I'm not sure how good your friend is with computers but you may want to try opening it as a word document - some word users think that renaming "something.doc" to "something.rtf" changes the file format.
