"how do i make the installation work?"

Your problem is most likely a version mismatch between caitoo-0.6.6-1.i386.rpm and Mandrake 8.2. I recommend that you find the source for caitoo-0.6.6 and compile it yourself.

An alternative is to find a caitoo-0.6.6 binary rpm that was compiled on Mandrake 8.2

Be prepared. Create a LifeBoat CD.
