how to use network cups printer

This is probably a really simple problem but I can't seem to find the answer. Actually it really isn't a problem. At work I just put debian sid on my computer. There is a network printer here but I wasn't planning on dealing with it. But when I brought up openoffice it had automatically found a printer MailPrinter with type CUPS:MailPrinter. So this is pretty cool that this just worked automatically. But I would like to use this printer now in other programs. Specifically I would love to just lp ps's to it from the command line. Any thoughts on how to do this simply?

Open a browser and type:

http://localhost:631/

Click on "Do administration tasks" You can add printers, configure printers, or set a printer as the default. When it asks for a name and password eneter "root" as the name and the root password.
