how to use lftp between two RHEL 5 Virtual machines

I want to use lftp between two virtual machines of RHEL5 to transfer a file. But when I apply the command 'lftp' and then in command promp when in write 'cd' its not able to connect. Error comes as 'delaying before connect::::'. pls suggest me if some settings are reqd.

What have you done to setup ftp servers on these machines?
What is the output of
netstat -ant | grep 21

Try this:

$ lftp
