How to upgarde from Mandrake 8.1 to Mandrake 9.2
 
Hi guys.. i'm got a version of Mandrake 9.2 here.. i was just wondering how should i install it.Should i format and delete my mandrake 8.1 then install Mandrake 9.2 or Should i just upgrade using the cd's ?

Anyone tried this out?Thanks..

I have never successfully upgraded Mandrake at all, and ended up doing a fresh install. Just make sure you backup everything you need first :D

If you have a seperate "Home"partition with 8.1, you might try not formating that partition.
Do a clean install on the rest of your partitions then immediatly afterwards do a "upgrade".

That way the upgrade doesnt try to reuse any of the important stuff that makes everything work but it goes ahead and integrates your old "Home" partition with its personal settings.

Mabe worth a shot. Good time to monkey around is when you are prepared to do a clean install anyway. Shouldnt cost anything but a little time.
