How to update newly created partion in RHEL6 without rebooting the system?

partprobe /dev/sdaN

does not work here in RHEL6, however it did work in RHEL 5.

You can't.
RHEL6 doesn't allow this if your disk is in use.

This has been blocked (when in use) for stability reasons.
