how to update apps in the start bar?
basically i read somehwere the command for doing this but can't find it again.
i wanted to update any appps i have installed in the start bar so i can see/access the app. as i don't know how to find things yet and i don't know if i got the app installed properly. thanks. |
I don't know if this is what you want, but KDE has a couple of GUIs to help edit the Start Applications menu (I don't know if Gnome has the same, but probably).
KAppfinder is a KDE GUI that can scan for apps to be added to the menu. Just enter the command 'kappfinder', or go to Settings -> Menu Updating Tool (KAppfinder). The other one is the Menu Editor itself. You can run the command 'kmenuedit' or go to Settings -> Menu Editor. (Note: Both binaries are located in /opt/kde/bin) |
Under your name it says you are using GNOME. So I am assuming that is what your asking about. Right-click on an item in the menu and it will give you options for adding a launcher, deleting one, or modifying the properties.
If you want to add one to the panel just right-click on an area that's not being used. |
