This returns if I try to reinstall:

gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: unchanged: 1
Setting up spotify-client (1:0.9.11.27.g2b1a638.81-1) ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/spotify-client.postinst: 5: cd: can't cd to /opt/spotify/spotify-client
dpkg: error processing package spotify-client (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
spotify-client
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I installed from here: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2013/01/h...tu-12-04-12-10

try apt-get install --reinstall spotify-client
or download it and
dpkg -i --force-all <package>

for dpkg you must download the package yourself and you need to specify the filename instead of the package name:
sudo dpkg -i --force-all <full path to spotify-client.deb>
in post #3 you tried to reinstall something. What was that, how did you try (what was the command exactly?)
Also you can try synaptic to force reinstall package.
