How to undo or uninstall uncompressed files for Filezilla Ubuntu 18.04

Hi,

I Have Zorin 15 (Ubuntu 1804) and had Filezilla. I wanted help from the FZ forum and was told >I had to update as they did not support what I had.

I Uninstalled FZ and then from their website downloaded to the Downloads folder, the the only option I saw for Linux... The Source Client.

From instructions I did this..

Quote:
~/Downloads$ tar -jxvf FileZilla_3.46.3_x86_64-linux-gnu.tar.bz2
I got hundreds of lines down as I guess it uncompressed.
It stopped at the last 4 lines..
Quote:
FileZilla3/lib/libhogweed.so.5
FileZilla3/lib/libgnutls.so.30
FileZilla3/lib/libgmp.so.10
FileZilla3/lib/libjson-c.so.4
The instructions then said do ./configure which I did but got this.

I am now stuck not sure where or what to do.

If I can uninstall or undo do the compression, then I will get the 'Unofficial' Filezilla which is all ready to setup.

Any advice please?

~/Downloads$ ./configure
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory

What version were you running which they didn't support?

Is it the same found here: https://ubuntu.pkgs.org/19.10/ubuntu...amd64.deb.html ?

Trying to compile from source in anything Debian based can be a nightmare. I saw a Debian guide once which recommended you avoid it, so it's a documented issue, not personal preference.

Hi,

I had 3.28.0 and they said they only do the latest 3.46.3.

Quote:
We don't support that version of FileZilla, sorry.

Only the latest (3.46.3 ATM) binary downloaded from here, and a self-compiled version created from the unmodified source package (downloaded from here) are supported. For *buntu 18.0.4, you probably need to self-compile.
Yes I need to clean those files out and start again. What is the best way to do that?

It's just a bunch of files - delete them.
But before doing that, if you decide to proceed you need to cd into that list of files before running the .config
Generally that works ok, and may even have a "clean" target should you later decide to get rid of the binaries created. Should all be in the doco.

Regardless, looks like everything should be under ~/Downloads/FileZilla3/ - either cd into that or remove the entire directory. You can/should also delete the tar you downloaded to save later confusion.
