How to tune st buffer size in RHEL6?
I'm trying to follow some NetBackup documentation about tuning st buffer size, but it might be out of date or not apply to RHEL6:
"Internal st tape driver buffers have a default size of 32K. You may improve performance if you set those buffers to match the default block size that the NetBackup bptm process uses. The default block size for bptm is 64K. Modify the ST_BUFFER_BLOCKS parameter in the st_options.h file; set the value to 64." I can't find an st_options.h file and there's no mention of it in the RHEL6 documentation. I found this reference for RHEL5: set "max_buffers" parameter in "options st" line in /etc/modprobe.conf but /etc/modprobe.conf doesn't exist either... Anybody? |
I have /etc/modprobe.conf — every time I boot it tells me that it's deprecated and I should use /etc/modprobe.d/ but it seems to work. Have you tried creating it?

I found information on /etc/modprobe.d/ but not the exact syntax. I think I can take this back to NetBackup support for clarification.
