How to tell if I'm using Gnome or KDE?
How do I tell what I'm using and what version? I'm running Red Hat 9 and cannot remember which I installed...:o

If most of the programs in the Menus begin with K its probably KDE, if they begin with G it probably GNOME.
Press ctrl + esc, If a program called KDE System Guard appears then thats pretty conclusive. |
Thanks for the help, I'll check when I'm logged onto the GUI. Right now I'm SSH'd into it. Is there a command to tell?
For the Start icon, I see Red Hat icon. |
Try top and look for kdeinit, ( alot of the stuff beginning with k in top will probably be kernel stuff ). If no kdeinit exist then its probably gnome, ( but thats no guarentee ).

I don't see either in there. :|

Right click the taskbar. I have the option "Help"-->"About KDE", if I click it, it returns KDE 3.2.1.
This also, I believe, works on Gnome. |
