how to switch kde to gnome without ending session
 
hi,

using RHEL Server 5

when i logs in it leads me to gnome desktop
to go in kde
i issued "startkde" at run

now kde is running, now i want to end kde session and come back
to gnome how can i do this ?

normally if you just log out, it will take you back to the sessions screen. From there, you just change your session to GNOME or KDE and log back in. This will leave the X server running. I believe this only works if you are running in runlevel 5

Please make up your mind.

You end the KDE session by logging out.

You can also end it with: kill kdm

However: RHEL5-server (AS or ES?) is not designed to be run with a desktop at all. You are supposed to run headless and ssh to administer it.
