How to start sendmail server?.

Hi ,

I have redhat Linux 7.2. How can i know my sendmail server stopped. How can i restart the mail service.

I am a newbie to Linux. Please give me step by step procedure to solve this problem.

Been a long time since I've used Redhat, but best I recall it's service script has a handler for sendmail. Maybe "service sendmail status", "service sendmail stop", "service sendmail start". Else you can check to see if it's running using "ps aux | grep sendmail".

can i run "ps aux | grep sendmail" at root or any specific directory?

ps can be ran from anywhere. ps is simply a command line utility that outputs information about running processes, no precautions necessary:

man ps
