How to speed up mdadm while it's re-shaping?

I added a 5th drive to a RAID 6 array and doing a re-shape. 26MB/s seems kind of slow, even for 5400RPM drives. Any way to speed this up?

CPU is an i5 3570K with no load and I have 32 gigs of RAM.

Personalities : [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] [linear] [multipath] [raid0] [raid1] [raid10]
md0 : active raid6 sdf[4] sde[3] sdd[2] sdc[1] sdb[0]
1953262592 blocks super 1.2 level 6, 512k chunk, algorithm 2 [5/5] [UUUUU]
[============>........] reshape = 60.4% (590139720/976631296) finish=247.4min speed=26028K/sec
bitmap: 1/8 pages [4KB], 65536KB chunk

Carried out the steps below and really didn't see much of a difference.

Software via mdadm.

I issues this command: blockdev --setra 4096 /dev/md0

and after a little while, I'm at 80MB/s(?!)
