What distro are you using?

What are you trying to accomplish?

What was the command that you typed?

From the information that you've provided, it looks like:
"You must run a dkms build for kernel 2.6.20-16-generic (i686) first."

I am trying to install a trial copy of Trueimage for linux I used ./ to run the program at the end of the installation it says something about compiling the installation fails and I should look I should look in /Var/log and /Var/lib where this error message was.
If you think I must run a dkms build for kernel 2.6.20-16-generic (i686) first how to do it.

Here's a Linux Journal article about DKMS that I believe will help you with that.
