How to share screen
I want to allow a remote user to see my screen. How, please? Thank you.

Teamviewer works, but without knowing more about your actual needs/goals, it's hard to say more. |
Thank you. I am a newbie from the Windows world. I presumed a package exists for this functionality. I will now re-evaluate the situation.

yes, there are several packages available, called something like "remote desktop viewer" (for example) or vnc. But anyway, without details hard to suggest anything.

How do you like to do it in the Windows world? Perhaps the same thing is available. One easy way is just take a screenshot, then email the picture to the person, or put it on an image site and share a link. But maybe you want it moving, so you could do the same thing with a video. Or maybe you want it real time, and there are many ways to do that, and most of them are available to Windows users too. Google Meets can do that in a browser. So can Discord. Or instead of using a videoconference or chat app, you could use VNC or remote control software, just set it in view only mode... a package for that is x11vnc; run that on the server side, and then any vnc viewer can connect and see your current desktop.

Often screen sharing functionality is part of whatever communications software you are using to talk with the other person. Which one are you using? BigBlueButton, Jitsi-Meet, Blink, or something else?

Jitsi includes a share screen feature, that is, you can share your screen so that others can view it but not manipulate it.
If you want them to be able to manipulate the screen, you'll need to look at some kind of VNC, a number of which exist for Linux. A web search for "linux vnc reviews" will turn up some useful articles. My LUG uses Jitsi Meet for remote meetings and it has worked very nicely for us. Here's the Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jitsi |
