HOW TO share I internet connection through wifi??


We have 2 laptop(my friend's runs Windows, mine Fedora 4) with wifi in the room and only 1 internet connection.

For now, I have the connection and How can I share it through wifi? I have to play a role of router? or some soft else need to be installed?

all kind of suggest will be appreciated.

What do you have right now (do you have a router, what kind of wireless cards, etc)? If you have a certain kind of wireless card you can use it as an ap.

my laptop is a IBM T41. The wifi is ipw2100 of intel. it works normally under my Fedora 4.

ipw2100 doesn't support the master mode, so it will not be able to be used as an ap. Perhaps you can create an ad-hoc mode setup. I haven't tried this but I think the ipw2100 should be able to do it.

If you have a broadband modem then get one that acts a wireless router. This is the simplest and probably the most expensive option. It should work ok.
