SSH runs on port 22...

Have a look at http://www.openssh.org for details of how to install, the source install is very straight forward. I've got it installed on my server but it doesn't want to authenticate users at the moment... nevermind a bit more of the old RTFM should sort it.

I found loads on SSH clients on http://www.download.com - alot of them seem to be dual telnet/ssh clients so it might be worth look at 'telnet' clients too.

I'm hooked on PuTTY. (google search it). Good client for 9x and NT40. There's also a Graphical secure copy as well at the same site.

OpenSSH 2.x.x from source requires OpenSSL as well. Build OpenSSL fisrt and then OpenSSH.

sshd uses port 22 by default.
