How to set binary mode as default in FTP ???

Hi,

How can i set binary mode as default in FTP.
Currently , when i log in, default type is set to ascii and i have to type "binary" to transfer binary files.

I wish to set binary mode as default, how can i do that ???

Thanks in advance.

ascii?

Every FTP server I have been on defaults to binary. but if it is set to ascii, that is not something you can change. It is the host that determines defaults.

setting binary or ascii mode in ftp in solaris

Just go to ftp>binary or ftp>ascii it will set the proper mode which you needed and you transfer files without hassle.

Thanks,
