how to set "archive" attribute on windows file residing on linux server

Hi Folks-
I have windows shared files on my Linux RH Enterprise server (samba-ized)- The Problem- I need to select the "archive" attribute on one of the files. When I try this from the windows machines I get "access denied"- when I log on (from windows) as user= root, I don't get the "denied", but the change doesn't "take".
Any help as always greatly appreciated.

Second hit on google, searching for +samba +"archive bit"

Cheers,
Tink
