hi, i've just install a theme and it was .tar.gz
there are two files in it they are:
install-kde3.sh and ParadiseBlue.ktheme

i type ./install-kde3.sh ParadiseBlue.ktheme
and it says:

Please untar the theme "ParadiseBlue.ktheme" in your home directory

and dont know what to do now...

hi there

if u r login in as root
then untar that then in the /root directory

or if u logging as any another user say test then untar that in

/home/test directory

shoul i untar first tar.gz file or .theme file?

TazG 09-17-2004 09:19 AM

The theme file is in the tar.gz file so you have to untar the tar.gz file and then the theme file will be usable. You can just do this with Ark - just right click the tar.gz and in the menu it says "Ark" or "Extract" or something...

Cozb 09-17-2004 09:32 AM

i've already untared them to /home

You said yourself a while ago that you got the message:
Please untar the theme "ParadiseBlue.ktheme" in your home directory

I would say that tells you everything you need to know...

(and when it says your home directory, it doesn't mean your /home directory, it means your /home/username directory...where username is the user you're logged in as)

if u could read this post u could se that u need to extract them into the name of user directory

also if u r logging as root then extract that to /root directory

I think he means it is in /home/[user]...

Cozb, do you have install-kde3.sh and ParadiseBlue.ktheme both in /home/[username] ?
...maybe try ./install-kde3.sh /home/[username]/ParadiseBlue.ktheme

hi again

# ./install-kde3.sh /home/cozb/ParadiseBlue.ktheme
Please untar the theme "/home/cozb/ParadiseBlue.ktheme" in your home directory

Ah... Maybe ParadiseBlue.ktheme is actually another tar file?? Try opening it with Ark and if it opens extract it to your Home folder.
