How to Search this forum efficiently

I am interested in writing a file to test my 3 parallel ports. Or finding a hal file already created by someone.

If I search on parallel port test I get 1000 or more hits. Is there any way of searching these results?

Hi.

Wild cards work; eg quotation marks narrow that search to two threads, here and https://www.google.com/search?q=site...l+port+test%22 ie https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...rt-lpt-397198/

the link in my signature under code\man find may help or changing your title "How to Search this forum efficiently" to include "writing a file to test my 3 parallel ports"?

Edit: first link... :hattip:

I am not aware of any linux based parallel port loop back test software. Although it should not be very difficult to write one. In addition to what already has been posted.

You need to build a loopback connector. You can find the pinouts for adapters that came with the DOS/Windows diagnostic packages.

in a case like this it might be better to go to Advanced Search and enter the 2 most important search terms ("parallel port"?), then select "Search Titles only" (and "Show results as Threads").
there are more options, whatever is suitable to narrow it down.

Sometimes it also helps to narrow the search to a particular forum or group of forums.
