How to run the GUI?
I know that there is a GUI for linux.. how do I start this from the root command prompt?

Just type "startx" when you login. If you want the gui to always start at boot time, edit /etc/inittab and change the default runlevel from 3 to 5 (4 is on Slackware).

hmmmmmmmm
I use freesbie. and did Xorg -configure (i think) that was before half year, then i wrote ' startkde' in a file called .xinitrc, and now, every time I type xinit, I go on KDE. startx is the Xwindows system, but now for me, its always KDE but I don't care, I like KDE. cheers |
