How To Run a Program?

I made a simple hello world program to get my feet wet with linux, but I cant seem to run the program. I made the file in xemacs and gcc hello.c -o hello , what else do i have to do to make it run?

what happens when you run it? did you make it executable?

You run the program by doing something like
or entering the full path to the program e.g.

Ok Im an idiot I was using just /hello instead of ./hello

Thanks , Im sure Ill have more dumb questions
