How to retrieve config file

hi all,

This is gaurav. I have lost/override the old configuration (config file) while compiling the new kernel resulting in my internet connection failure. I have tried re-booting the pc, the only escape (somewhat weired) i would thought of, still it does not restore the original.

Please guide me to the solution. Is Reinstalling the Fedora would be the only savior?

Every help would always be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,
Gaurav Holey

I think you are talking about /etc/sysctl.conf

Hi,

If you can still boot with your old kernel, check if there is a /proc/config.gz. Then you can run:
Code:
zcat /proc/config.gz > .config
Regards
