how to remove a digital signature from a windows 7 .dll file with ubuntu 13.04

I am currently trying to completely customize a windows 7 64 bit partician. I ran into a problem thouogh, I have found .dll files that have been digitally signed by "trusted installer" (or microsoft). The file that I really want to get into is bootres.dll so that I can change the lame boot animation on start up. I am a novice user, but with this I would consider myself a newbie since I am in new waters. I have other linux operating systems partitioned on my system, but for this I would like to use Ubuntu 13.04.
I did research this on the net, but I keep getting the turn around. I could not find a real answer to this issue. Not only do I need to remove the digital signature, but I must Put the signature back on it after I change the file so that it will be reconized by another file somewhere (I cannot locate this either at the moment or I would change it so that I wouldn't have to use a digitally singed file to be recognized).
I know that I don't have to completely customize everything, but I want to and this experience will only add to my computer skills.
Thank you

I don't think that advising you on that activity would be consistent with LQ rules.

some windows dll's can be "edited" in Microsoft Visual Studio
there are some plain text parts to them

otherwise decompial ( not easy)
or use a hexeditor

if you use a hex editor the dill MUST !!! be the same number of bits after

if you remove 10 pairs you need to replace them with 10 pairs

windows dll's are a pain in the " bleep "

and MS will every so often just replace them to make sure you do not tamper with them

i lost count of how many times i rehacked uxtheme.dll for using MY OWN theme and not have to buy from MS one of theirs

You will need to talk to Microsoft and get them to use their key to sign your altered file.
(You will be standing in line behind the snowball).

I'm afraid that this topic is against the rules, not only is removing sigs and altering files
against your EULA pbligations; the topic is also not Linux related.
