How to re-sync disks (/dev/sdc1, /dev/sdc3, etc)

Blank USB flash drive = /dev/sdc

#dd if=image_with_2_partitions.img of=/dev/sdc
#ls /dev/sd*
only shows "/dev/sdc"

How do I appear /dev/sdc1 and /dev/sdb2 WITHOUT unplugging and plugging back in the USB drive?
