how to play media files in fedora 7
 
hi,i am new to linux.I tried downloading vlc for fedora7 from this link (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-fedora.html) .I entered the following commands

$> su -
#> rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-7.rpm
#> yum install vlc
#> yum install python-vlc mozilla-vlc (optionnal)

on typing 'yum install vlc' i got the following error:

cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: livna

kindly help a.s.a.p

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Fedora 7 is no longer supported, so most of the repositories no longer work. If its an option, install Fedora 10.

Do you have the livna repository installed without problems? If so, then check the URL in the repo file - Livna got merged with another package provider recently, and it is possible that the old URL doesn't work anymore.
