I enjoy playing this game every now and then, but I wish to no long use windows for anything. Can I play DDO with linux (Ubuntu 12.4 to be more accurate), or is this type of game for windows and mac only?
Thank you for your time

I tried using wine but the game behaves poorly, like using iTunes through it.
Thank you

I'm keeping Windows 7 on my gaming PC. I'm running Mint 12 on my laptop. I've tried a few games using Wine. But in general it's a no-go.

I'd recommend stick to Windows for gaming. Only game I got running without hiccups is StarCraft. Other games didn't start or did not have hardware acceleration making it a slow experience.

Linux gaming

I have been using Fedora for the past few years and I have been able to game without too many headaches.
I am currently playing Dungeons & Dragons Online with Wine and have no problems. It even runs better on Linux then it does on my windows xp box. I have played Olbivion, Quake 4, Starcraft, Left For Dead and many other High end games on Linux.

My box specs:
Core 2 Duo 2.6Ghz
2gb ram
Nvidia GT440 1gb
Fedora 17 - update to date.
Wine 1.5.16

Windows XP sp3
P4 2.2 Ghz
2.5 gb ram
Nvidia GeForce 6 512mb

How did you get DDO to not fractal up on the log-in screen? For me it's very pixelated and unreadable. It's been a while since I tried it so the exact details kind of elude me, but I also remember the game just falling to a black screen after I did log in.
