How to pause during boot?

How can I make the system pause while booting? The Pause button on my keyboard seems to have no effect? Oh, RH9.

Thanks!

You can't (not on the fly, anyway) ... what are you
trying to achieve?

Cheers,

There are some messages that fly by right after grub and I just wanted to see what they are. I've looked in the logs but don't seem to find them there. Should everything that shows up during boot be in some log or another?

Look in /var/log/dmesg. You might also have /var/log/boot.log in RH, but I'm not 100% sure

scroll lock seems to do it for me.
