How to patch openssh in Redhat 5.4 without rhn subcription


HI
Looking for help for patching openssh version in redhat 5.4 version server with has no rhn subscription .

Whether Downloading the latest realese of openssh installing on redhat 5.4 could cause me to loose my terminal .How i can make the latest openssh make active after installing latest openssh version rpm .Any suggestion could help me.Since i have int upgraded openssh without rhn sbscription

Hi,

since you don't have a RHN subscription I would suggest migrating to CentOS. See the
"Migration an existing system from RHEL5 to CentOS 5" section in
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/MigrationGuide

The procedure appears to be quite quick and painless.

Move to centos could be a very good solution for our problem.I think Redhat version 5.4 is outdated .If you dont have subscripion go ahead with Centos 6.2 Box.Which you can have support for 7 years

Need advise to upgrade openssh

whether upgrading the openssh ad per the below link works are not need advise to try out before trying in production

As per the excellent advice above, DON'T try to fool around with prod servers like that.
You have 3 reasonable options

1. get RHN subscription
2. switch over to Centos
3. leave it alone
