How to open windows on a desktop of mandrakelinux10 ?

i have mandrakelinux 10.

i have heard that it's possible open Windows XP without logging out from linux. So that
it will be possible to use windows, while my mandrakelinux is still functioning in the other desktops.

how do we do that ?

Hi baybocukcu,

Sorry to dissapoint, but this isn't a possibility unless you're running VMWare (http://www.vmware.com/) or Win4Linux (http://www.netraverse.com/). Both are commercial products that will allow you run Linux from Windows, but both of which are fairly expensive options. You'll also take a performance hit, running both OSs at once.

There is no "out of the box" support for this kind of functionality. Linux is it's own Operating System, so the best you can to is either run a Windows compatibility layer like WINE, dual-boot between the two, or ditch Windows and run Linux exclusively

Cheers,
Tim

If you use QEMU CVS you can install (at least) Windows 98 into a box. It's not quite as fast as VMware but it's usable if you only want it for occasional things. It's not usable for playing games or similarly demanding applications.
