how to open rar file in ubuntu 9.10
 

i am trying file roller to open rar file in ubuntu 9.10..but it says that it cannot open it because the file format is not recognized..is there any application based on gui to open rar files...i did not want command line applications

I think file-roller (and most Linux GUI archive managers) use command line applications as a back-end.

Try installing the "unrar" utility and then try opening the archive with file-roller again.
