how to open a folder in same window? (Gnome)

Hi,
I've been using KDE, and decided to take a look at Gnome, I found it works faster, however one thing keeps me away from it - I haven't found how to make Gnome open the folder in the same window - every time I'm double click a folder inside the navigator it opens it in another window - so after a few clicks I get a BUNCH of windows! I searched how to disable it but haven't found. I searched how to make 'browse' the default action for double-clicking a folder but no results either, please help! I have Mandriva 2007
And.. one more very weird thing - there's no location bar, not even in 'browse' mode..
Can anyone please enlighten me, I wanna move to Gnome..

Its simple really, Open any folder in Gnome, choose Edit -> Preferences -> Choose the Behaviour tab and enable the checkbox for "Always open in browser windows" .

well,, gnome's cleaner and simple, but KDE is way more complete, i started with gnome, then changed to KDE. Learn how to work in gnome, that is cleaner, and then try KDE. Of course it depends on what you want to do...
just my opinion of course, and woould be nice if someone more expert than me give his opinion:P

I switched from KDE, and using Gnome already for a few days.
You're right about KDE being "more complete", but, it is slow and some apps, although not often, fail to start under KDE, while Gnome launches the apps right away and takes less time (both desktops have bugs). On my computer (athlon 64, 1.5GB ram, Mandriva 2007) KDE runs more slowly than the windows interface, while Gnome beats both. Again, KDE is nicer to work with. I've chosen speed and reliability over 'a complete desktop'. KDE reminds me a bit of Java (no offence, I'm a Java programmer myself) - it looks pretty fine but is slower. In Gnome by double clicking a folder the browser shows up (almost) instantly!, while KDE takes longer to 'think'. Maybe at somebody KDE works faster, I've just said how they both behave themselves on my hardware.
The only BIG thing I would really like to change in Gnome is - I would like to find the option (I guess it doesn't exist though) which will make the icons and buttons (for instance the browser 'back' and 'forward'-like icons ) about 50% smaller.

Gnome Rulez!!! ..Well a bit personal opinion.

If you're interested you try Xfce and Fluxbox, both are extremely lightweight DMs and are really fast.

Also you want to use "Thunar" instead of Nautilus/Konqueror. Its damn good

I use a combination of Fluxbox and Thunar. This is how it looks http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/9...eenshotrz6.png
