How to move mail and browser settings from mem-stick to HD?

HD on laptop went bad. Used Puppy to recover files. Fell in love with Linux. Very quickly switched to Ubuntu 11.10.

Installed U11 on a stick. Bought new HD. Installed U11 on HD. All admin stuff identical between stick and HD.

NOW... How do I transfer my email msgs, settings, and address book in Thunderbird; and bookmarks and settings in Mozilla, from the stick to the hard drive?

If anybody can advise, thanks.

Just copy them back to the correct location on the HD?

Kind regards

That was my first try

Tried that.

Pulled the TB and Moz folders from the stick and dragged them into the same directory on the HD.

Lots of "swap" clicking during process.

Didn't work.

Apparently settings, etc. are in a different folder/file. Can't find them.

Did you backup everything?

Kind regards
