When you insert a disk, you should see it in the Places Menu and it should show up in the Nautilus file manager under /media. Is this not happening?

You can control how it's dealt with by running Nautilus and clicking on Edit - Preferences - Media.

and with all CD/DVD type media you can manually mount it as root:

Code:
# mount -t iso9660 /dev/dvd /mnt/path/to/mount/point

First before you do anything
Fedora 14 is unsupported and has been for a year
It is 4 versions out of date

Fedora 18 is the current and fedora ONLY is currently supporting
"Fedora 17" & "Fedora 18"

fedora 14 with the old Gnome2 Desktop will AUTO mount a dvd in the dvd drive
and place a link on the desktop
unless it is a "store bought" movie dvd .Then YOU must use a video player to see the movie .
VLC is the recommended player
BUT fedora 14 is unsupported

Fedora 14 should have Gmplayer installed by default
BUT WITHOUT ANY DVD MOVIE SUPPORT !!!
libdvdcss must be installed

see Mjmwired's page
but with fedora 14 being unsupported the software repos might NOT WORK any longer
