How to modify web browser appearance/text size - Firefox with Fedora 14

Struggling to find right place to post, or for FAQs, or anything, because reading web browser is such a strain: can use Firefox v. happily in MS Windows, but, new to Linux and Fedora (14), I can't physically SEE where to start modifying appearance of either desktop or browser, which seem minute. I'm sure there's a really simple route if someone can just start me off. Sorry this is so basic!

Hi there,

Welcome to LQ!!!

You can change preferences in Firefox by going to Edit Menu. Edit | Preferences | Contents and there you will find the options to select font and size.

For editing desktop background you can just right click on the desktop and you will be able to change desktop background.

If you want to change the display environment then go to: system | preferences and then you will find options to change screen saver, background, display resolution, themes etc.

I hope this helps.

You mean like changing fonts, background, theme?

For firefox click on Edit (on the topbar) and choose Options/Preferences.

For desktop, if you are using default Fedora, right-click on the desktop, choose 'change background' from the window that pops you can change font/theme also.

P.S: T3RM1NVT0R beat me.. :-) If you are using KDE desktop, click on menu, you should have something like System Settings(?).

As mentioned above Firefox Edit->Preferences or just use View->Zoom IN|OUT. For rest is same again like above posters said + one thing - resolution. You might want set it bit lower to get larger item view if too small. If you have unfriendly video card you might need install proprietary drivers aswell which can be done easy with Autoten or EasyLife "mods" for Fedora.
