How to modify 'Start' bar

Hi guys...I see from alot of screenshots of users, that their so called 'start bar' (sorry for that) looks different. Just wondering how you do that? I've got redhat 9 installed with gnome 2.2. I'm still very new to linux, and like the customization stuff.

Thanx guys!

erm...haven't used gnome for ages, so I can't quite remember. It's either in the gnome control panel, or right-click the gnome panel [aka "start bar"], and it'll be like "customize" or "properties" or something.
