Hello,

In a terminal you could use these commands:
Code:

iwlist wlan0 scan
That will show you the available wireless networks near you in a form like this:
Code:

wlan0    Scan completed :
          Cell 01 - Address: 00:23:F8:A0:EF:36
                    ESSID:"WLAN_81"
                    Mode:Master
                    Channel:9
                    Frequency:2.452 GHz (Channel 9)
                    Quality=69/100  Signal level:-64 dBm  Noise level=-127 dBm

                              6 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s
                              36 Mb/s; 48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s
                    Extra:tsf=00000010a52201b6

Yours will show different data of course.

Next the following commands, putting in your data of course. Your key is of course only needed if you have some form of protection enabled on your wireless. Like shown below the key must be in hex if I'm not mistaking, to put it in ascii you'll need to add -s switch:
Code:

iwconfig wlan0 essid "Your ESSID"
iwconfig wlan0 key "Your_key"
iwconfig wlan0 ap 00:00:00:00:00:00 (the 00 address must be substituted by the address of your wireless access point)
iwconfig wlan0 up
dhclient

That should get you connected from the command line.

If using a GUI there should be a network manager. If not you can install wicd. That would do it.

Kind regards,

Eric

Give this a try.
Code:

ifconfig wlan0 up
You might have to precede that with SUDO.
