How To Make Hosting Server ?

Hello,

As you seen i m very new with Linux. i don't know much information about Linux & it's versions. but i know what linux give there users in 1 OS.

and i seen a many popular organizations used Linux SERVER for there Websites. included popular Web Hostings.

Actually I want to make my own web hosting server that Host HTML, PHP websites with Apache, MYSQL & all other things that required in web hosting. but i have no idea which Linux version is very good and give full tools with security ? and i confused to choding Linux versions because a many peoples said that CentOS is the best for Hosting but some said Fedora Core is the best for Hosting and some peoples said that RedHat is best for hosting.

Now i think i m on right place to confirm which version of the best and good for web Server ?

So please tell me which Linux version i will used for web Server purpose ?

i have 3 Dvds with but all are Old versions.
REDHAT 5.1
FEDORA CORE 8
CENTOS 4
so this would be fine ? OR Will purchase a new latest version ?

and also tell me after the installation i want to give users to cpanel and QUOTA if they purchase a package of hosting. so how can i restrict them and control them ?

and how can i access in MYSQL>PHPMYADMIN after installation ? and how can i give facility to my clients they set, modify php.ini file for there requirements ? and how can they all are host domains to my web server ?

I Need explanation and idea i have well command on Windows Server. but no idea about Linux.

Thanks Advanced.

sorry but this is kind of question a good hoster never ask.
you don't really want to host sites, do you? it would just lead to immediate crack of the entire system by some cracker. learn basics of unix-systems first, then go make a hosting playground.
at this point it just can make more troubles than actual help.
when you get into basics of linux, security and running servers, you can come and ask real question about some problem you experience and can't solve.
about distros: i can recommend Debian. I use Debian Lenny pretty long time and find it good as server system. It's a good place to start for a novice user willing to be a kind of hoster, to run some servers.
about cpanel: consult the manual. sure it's pretty well-documented.

p.s. just remember: linux is not more secure than windows if it is run by someone who doesn't know how to protect it from crackers.
