"How to Make Fedora8 Bootable DVD ? "
 

I downloaded Fedora8 Iso file and make a DVD using NERO software,But this are not a Bootable so, "HOW TO MAKE FEDORA8 BOOTABLE DVD"
Pls Replay me.

When you burned the DVD did you simply copy the files into it? That just gives you a spare copy of a file on the disk!

To get a bootable DVD (I use Version 6 SE so your menu may be a little different) Select File, Open and you should be given the opportunity to open a compilation or image. After you burn that you should be able to boot from it.

If you are burning the image, and your burning software of choise says it burns successfully and you can see the installation files on the DVD but it still fails to boot.. run a checksum on your DVD iso image and verify that the downloaded file matches the checksum on the fedora website. if they dont match then there is a problem with your file and you will need to redownload the iso. this has happened to me many times. It gets very frustrating when it happens.

WHAT IS CHECKSUM ,HOW TO USED IT AND CAN I REDOWNLOAD FEDORA8????

a checksum is a hex value that describes your file, I cant think of how to better explain it.

in a linux system to find the checksum of a file you type in "md5sum file.iso"
the bigger the file the longer it takes.

here is a sample of the checksum from an ubuntu ISO.

mac@Joseph:~$ md5sum images/Ubuntu\ 7.10/ubuntu-7.10-desktop-i386.iso
d2334dbba7313e9abc8c7c072d2af09c images/Ubuntu 7.10/ubuntu-7.10-desktop-i386.iso

you can do the same in windows, google "MD5Sum for windows" there are several utilities out there that will give you a value for your file. on the fedora mirror there is generally the iso file and with it a MD5SUM file which containts the checksum for the files in the mirror. if the value is even slightly different then the download was unsuccessful.
