How to make a Writable Direcotry in Linux Based Hosting ?

hi, fellows

am having following error while installing TimeTrex payroll system:

Writable Cache Directory: Warning: Not writable (/hrm/cache)
Writable Storage Directory: Warning: Not writable (/hrm/storage)
Writable Log Directory: Warning: Not writable (/hrm/log)

I did apply permission settings:
i.e
777 on cpanel.

but invain.

i got info. abt .htaccess files from where we can apply write attributes to the directory. (not getting how to apply on a linux based hosting)

anyone know how to do this...

are you able to check that the status of the files is indeed 777?

its also possible that the permissions of the hrm directory is incorrect aswell - if you change hrm/ to 777 it should work.
