- how to make a desktop link of executable file on desktop (gnome,kde3)

I might can answer your second question.
make a mount point in /mnt, lets do /mnt/data.
then write your mount comand in you /etc/fstab like this
/dev/hda? /mnt/data vfat auto,users,umask=000 0 0

i've never tried this, but try dragging the files onto the desktop (don't worry, the actual files will not move), try right clicking on the desktop or the file and look for an option "link" or something similar

Just right click any place at your desktop and select "new" and then "link to application" and just type in the "command" tab the path to the executable.

hm ....
when i right click i have there only :New Window ,New Folded ,New Launcher (which dont want to create link) ,New terminal,Scripts
and desktop properties ....
... gnome

First advice eas for KDE. For GNOME, select "new launcher" , fill the spaces and at the "command" field type the path to the executable.
