how to make a credentials file for samba

How would I make a credentials file for samba for my username and pass. In Mandrake I used the Mandrake control center. Was really easy. I'm using sUsE now and want to put my shares in /etc/fstab but don't want my username and password in plain text there. It's bad enough they're sent over the network in plain text.

Thanks for any help.
