how to maintain the same /etc/services or /etc/hosts for a large linux redhat servers
Hi,
Since my apps servers required to modify the /etc/services quite frequent over 100 ++ Linux redhat Enterprise 5 hence i would like to look for a effective solution to maintain the /etc/services. Currently we do it by a manually way and this doest not guarantee the file version consistency and consumed huge effort as well. In NT world, i can think of GPO centralized management but i really have no idea which solution work the same as GPO in Linux world. According to my limited research, NIS seem one of the solution being used frequently in large scale of Linux server farm. Please advice. Regards Nicholas |
Hello and welcome to LinuxQuestions,
Although it will be a bit of overkill if only used for one file (you could use it for a lot more, and I'm sure you will over time), have a look at the following: Puppet cfengine Chef Looking forward to your participation in the forums. Have fun with Linux. Kind regards, Eric |
Thanks you so much for the useful info. I started to love Linux !!!!
