Smile How to Login from a linux workstation to a linux server with the IP address?

I have a linux workstation (uname -a: 2.6.32-220). I need to remotely login to a linux server of which I have the IP address. How can I do that?

thanks, Steve M.

use ssh to login to the other server.
ssh user@ip_address

follow the prompts and you should be on the system in no time (presuming you have credentials on the other/remote server).

Hope that helps...

If you have the info like username and password in the remote linux server, you can use ssh(recomended) or telnet(not recomended) to connect.

Hi and welcome to LQ,

ssh user@ip
The first time it will ask you if you wish to add the remote host to a list of known_hosts: write "yes"
And after you will see a prompt for digit the password.

In addition, i suggest this link to learn linux.
