how to lock screen while login as root

I logged in as root. i want to activate screensaver which required password.
Installation version is RHEL 5 server.
I have installed xlockmore-5.28-1.el5.rf.i386.rpm but when i run xlock comand in terminal window, it shows error e.g.
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x5b
xlock: symbol lookup error: xlock: undefined symbol: DPMSQueryExtension
what to do plz help me.

Are you saying you are logging in as root in X? Please, for **** sake, do not do that. Create a standard user to log into your GUI and only log in as root in a terminal temporarily when you need to make system wide changes.

As far as your error,

Cant you just control alt delete? Thats what i do. and it requires a password to get back in. I use it on my ubuntu computer alot. Havent really tried it on my slackware 13 computer

Edit: Yeah does nothing on my slack install but i know it works for Ubuntu when using XFCE4 as the WM.
