How to load Vodafone K3772-Z on Mint Maya

I am a complete newbie at Linux and have just installed Mint Maya -Mate.
I have gone to CONTROL CENTER - NETWORK CONNECTIONS - mobile broadband -add - country selection - service provider selection (vodacom) - default plan - apply. - filled in the required username and password provided by Vodacom - saved the info............and then nothing.
I cannot find a way to access the modem or to connnect to the internet. There is no access icon or shortcut. Nix - nada - diddley squat.

Where did I go wrong?
Is there not a simple "How to" instruction manual that does not deal with command prompts and all the high tech stuff.
I am a geriatric old fart and need to be spoon fed.
All I need is "drivers instruction" not a mechanics manual
