How big the directory include the files and subdirectories within it is?


Now, when I right-click a directory, and select property, I only can see how big the directory is, while can't know how big the directory include the files and subdirectories within it is.

what's this under? gnome? kde? some other file manager? please provide enough useful information so we can understand your problem.

from a console though, just run the "du" command on that directory

To get more specific information on directory sizes etc

Open a shell - su to root user - then type

du -h path_to_directory
