Thumbs up how to interface a logiclal port with physical port

am trying to find a way of interfacing a socket layer software port(logical) with a rs232 hardware port (physical).the main objective is to use this in the development of an e-mail alert via gsm sms message on linux OS platform.

not very noobish...

i havent done this. have you thought about cat-ing the tcp port to /dev/ttyS0.

how would it work if you first wrote it to a file or fifo then piped it out.

also look at 'man netcat'
